This blog is intended to be nature journal of life on Hunting Creek in Wilkes County, NC. Posts may be as mundane as what is the weather like or perhaps more philosophical in tune with thoughts on a walk in the woods. Hopefully the reader will see the progress of trying to turn the property into a beauty spot for the pleasure of anyone who might come for a visit.

Aldo Leopold published his Sand County Almanac in 1949 describing the area around him in Sauk County, Wisconsin. He also published numerous sketches in the book. The book is a classic for the ecological movement. I apologize to Mr. Leopold because I could never hope to approach his marvelous efforts.
